DRUGS
500 BLOCK CHURCH AVENUE: A 46-year-old man was arrested after deputies noted the smell of marijuana coming from his home during an unrelated traffic stop late Monday night, Undersheriff Quentin Reynolds said. Deputies spoke with the man at his door and got permission to search his home. They found 51.89 grams of plant-based marijuana, as well as an unlisted number of THC gummies and a THC vape, and he was arrested for possession of marijuana.
1300 BLOCK WEST SECOND STREET: A 38-year-old woman and a 20-year-old man were both ticketed after police pulled the woman over in a white 2003 Chevy Suburban for an equipment violation Monday afternoon, Police Capt. Eric Vos said. During the stop, the woman was found to be driving on a suspended license and a drug dog indicated on the vehicle. Officers found two vape pens that tested positive for THC, and the 20-year-old said they were his. He was ticketed for possession of a controlled substance and the woman was ticketed for driving on a suspended license.
THEFT
300 BLOCK ROCKPILE BOULEVARD: A 44-year-old woman reported Monday that a number of items had been stolen from her home. She accused a 34-year-old man and a 39-year-old woman of stealing her family heirlooms, including coins and china, with the intent to sell them, Vos said. The investigation is ongoing.
900 BLOCK GURLEY AVENUE: A 39-year-old man reported to police shortly after noon Monday that his phone had been stolen. He noticed it was missing from his pocket sometime between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. at either the Horse Palace on Skyline Drive or in the Derby Club. The phone is valued at $1,100. The investigation continues.
WARRANT SERVICE
SIERRA CIRCLE: A 33-year-old man was arrested Monday morning after police were informed by Animal Control that the man, whom they were speaking to in reference to an animal related call, had an outstanding Campbell County warrant for failing to pay $1,500 in child support, Vos said. Officers responded and arrested the man.
MINOR IN POSSESSION
YES HOUSE: A 16-year-old boy was ticketed after YES House staff discovered three nicotine vapes in his room early Monday evening, Vos said. The boy admitted the vapes were his, and he was ticketed for minor in possession of tobacco.
TRAFFIC CRASH
4100 BLOCK HANNUM ROAD: Deputies responded to a call from a 22-year-old man after he reported shortly after midnight Tuesday that he had hit an antelope with his 1978 Mercury while driving, Reynolds said. The man had no injuries and his car only had minor damage, and deputies responded to move the dead antelope. The man said that the antelope had run in front of him and he tried to brake and swerve to avoid it. No tickets were issued.
WEST FOURTH STREET AND ROSS AVENUE: Police responded to a two-car crash early Monday evening between a 2023 GMC Acadia driven by a 46-year-old woman and a 2015 Chevy Equinox driven by a 39-year-old man, Vos said. The man said he had stopped at the stop sign on the intersection and believed the way was clear. He didn’t notice the GMC approaching and wasn’t able to avoid it, leading to a collision. Neither driver was injured and both vehicles were operable. No tickets were issued.
