ATLANTA — Atlanta police say they have shut down a massive marijuana pop-up event operation. Undercover officers say they were able to buy the drugs directly from the vendors.
Channel 2 Action News has learned that Atlanta police have spent months building a case tied to a series of secretive pop-up events promoted on social media.
On April 18, investigators made their move and served warrants at a warehouse on Ted Turner Drive just before the doors opened.
Investigators told Channel 2’s Michael Seiden that they are still counting what they seized, but early estimates suggest hundreds of thousands of dollars in marijuana and mushroom products.

On Tuesday, police released body camera and helicopter video showing the moments that officers went to the warehouse. In the video, police say you can see some of the vendors running off.
The arrested vendors call 11 different states home. They traveled to Atlanta to sell products like THC-infused gummies.
But police say what’s most concerning is how some of the products were packaged.
“We were able to get gummies. We have dolls with marijuana, and sometimes fentanyl, inside the dolls that kids can play with. We also have packaging that looks like Skittles, but they could be ecstasy pills,” Lt. Greg Smith said.
Police say they also seized guns and cash during the operation.
According to arrest warrants, undercover officers purchased drugs at other events before the big bust.
They also said that more than 1,400 people were registered for the event, but hundreds more could have been inside without registering.
