BREWTON, Ala. (WALA) – A Brewton parent is accused of putting marijuana inside candy bags for a kindergarten Christmas party.
Authorities said 26-year-old Karima Frasier brought numerous bags of candy to a classroom at Brewton Elementary for a Christmas party on Dec. 18 and inside was more than just sweet treats.
Court documents show “numerous clear bags containing variety sorts of candy with marijuana shake inside the bags were given to kids.”
Investigators said after the class party at Brewton Elementary, a parent called school officials after seeing what appeared to be marijuana inside their child’s candy bag. Brewton police said they were notified immediately, gathering four bags for evidence.
Brewton Police Chief Matt Jordan said Frasier was arrested the next day and charged with distribution of a controlled substance to a minor and chemical endangerment of a child.
Court documents show Frasier has a bond of $300,000.
I’ve reached out to Frasier’s attorney but haven’t heard back.
Superintendent for Brewton City Schools Kevin Wiessman said he’s thankful the students are safe and for the quick response from police.
