The first medical cannabis dispensary in the western Kentucky region opened last week in Paducah, the industry trade association announced Thursday, following the state’s approval of the treatment method in recent years.
NatureMed Cannabis Dispensary is open for business in Paducah, marking the 11th medical cannabis dispensary to open in Kentucky since sales began for the state’s medical cannabis program, which launched in January, according to a Kentucky Cannabis Industry Alliance news release. NatureMed aims to offer “patient-centered care, knowledgeable staff, and compliant operations,” according to the association.
“Opening our doors in Paducah is a moment we’ve worked toward for a long time, and we couldn’t be more proud to finally serve patients here in Western Kentucky,” Daniel Woodward, CEO of NatureMed, said in the release. “This community has waited patiently for access to legal, regulated medical cannabis, and we take that responsibility seriously. Our team is trained, our shelves are stocked, and we are ready to help patients find relief.”
The Kentucky Office of Medical Cannabis’ West Kentucky region includes McCracken, Calloway, Graves, Marshall, Livingston and surrounding counties, with 817 registered medical cannabis patients already on record in the region as of this month, the association stated.
