SIBLEY—A 21-year-old May City man was arrested about 1:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 21, near Sibley on charges of second-offense possession of a controlled substance — marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving while barred and driving without required high-risk insurance.
The arrest of Jonathan Uriel Ortiz stemmed from the stop of a 2003 Chevrolet Silverado pickup on 180th Street for an expired registration, according to the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office.
The odor of marijuana was detected coming from the vehicle, and Ortiz said he smokes marijuana in the pickup, according to the incident report.
A search located three bags containing a green plant like material consistent with marijuana and several paraphernalia items.
