The Mossos d’Esquadra have arrested seven people in the Campclar neighborhood, in Tarragona, in an operation that has dismantled several drug dealing points and indoor marijuana plantations. The operation resulted in the seizure of cocaine, heroin, and 700 cannabis plants, as well as the recovery of two properties.
The investigation started two months ago, after agents received information about occupied apartments in the neighborhood where narcotic substances were allegedly distributed. One of the points of sale was located near a school, a fact that accelerated police efforts to identify those involved and locate the properties related to the activity.
The device allowed to identify five points linked to criminal activity. Among them were an apartment and a commercial premises used as drug selling points. In the apartment, furthermore, narcotics were also consumed, which is why it functioned as a drug den.
In parallel, the Mossos located another three apartments where indoor cannabis crops had been installed. In total, the agents counted about 700 marijuana plants.
The entries and searches were carried out this Wednesday morning. During the operation, the Mossos seized 70 doses of cocaine, 6.75 grams of crack cocaine, and 89 doses of heroin, all prepared for retail sale.
In addition to the drug, the agents rescued three Belgian Malinois and American Staffordshire terrier puppies, who were placed at the disposal of the competent services.
The seven arrested are being investigated as alleged perpetrators of crimes against public health and electricity fraud. Among those arrested is a minor. The group had accumulated more than a hundred police records and one of those captured also had an active arrest warrant.
The technicians checked up to nine fraudulent electrical supplies, with a total of 230,000 kW defrauded. The estimated economic damage is around 50,000 euros annually and the connections were disconnected during the operation.
The operation also allowed the Agència de l’Habitatge de Catalunya to recover two properties, which will be allocated for social uses. The operation is part of the Pla de Barris, aimed at eradicating crime linked mainly to public health in this area of Tarragona.
The detainees will be brought before the court in the coming hours, while the investigation remains open to determine all responsibilities arising from the activity detected in Campclar.
