DRUGS
SKYLINE DRIVE AND WEST 4J ROAD: A 73-year-old man was arrested shortly early Thursday afternoon after police pulled him over for speeding 69 mph in a 45 mph zone, Police Capt. Eric Vos said. During the stop, officers smelled marijuana coming from the vehicle, and they found half a smoked marijuana joint in the ashtray as well as four more joints and a plastic bag labeled Bloom Montana Cannabis Superstore with a 14 grams of marijuana. The man was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and speeding.
UNDERAGE DRINKING
ENERGY CAPITAL SPORTS COMPLEX: Two 17-year-old boys were ticketed as minors in consumption late Thursday evening after police stopped a 2019 Hyundai, Vos said. Officers smelled alcohol coming from the vehicle, and they asked three 17-year-old boys and a 17-year-old girl to submit to a breath test. One of the boys, the driver, said he had not been drinking, and he blew zero’s on the breath test. The girl also was not drunk. However, a second boy had a positive result, while a third boy refused to take the test. These two were ticketed for minor in consumption of alcohol, and one of them also was ticketed for minor in possession of tobacco after he dropped a nicotine vape when exiting the car. The parents of all four children were contacted and responded to the scene.
COUNTERFEITING
MONTGOMERY BAR: Police received a report from a 32-year-old man, saying that a 25-year-old man had left a fake $20 tip at the bar Tuesday night. The $20 bill was clearly a movie prop based on closer inspection, Vos said. The man had stayed at the bar for a few hours Tuesday night and paid for his drinks separately via card, which seems to have been a legitimate transaction. The investigation continues.
FRAUD
1800 BLOCK EAST WARLOW DRIVE: Police received a report from a 67-year-old man early Thursday afternoon who explained that someone had been taking his VA and social security checks from his bank account, Vos said. The man said an unknown person had called him six months ago saying they could help improve his VA benefit plan, but the man had not provided any personal information to the caller. The total amount of lost funds is unknown at this time. The investigation continues.
24/7 VIOLATION
100 BLOCK BAY AVENUE: A 29-year-old man was arrested after deputies received a report from a 24/7 technician early Thursday night, saying the man had not shown up to his scheduled appointment, Undersheriff Quentin Reynolds said. Deputies found the man leaving his apartment, who said he did not have a ride to the testing site. The man was arrested for his first violation of the program, with testing at the jail showing no signs of consumption.
MINOR IN POSSESSION
CAMPBELL COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL: A 16-year-old boy was ticketed for possession of a vape device after officers were notified by a teacher Thursday morning, Vos said. The boy had concealed the vape in his waistband and when he raised his hand during class, the device became plainly visible. The boy was ticketed for minor in possession of tobacco products.
