Walter Marquez Kirby, 26 of Rome, was arrested this week after police said they found him parked at the end of Pearl Street smoking marijuana.
Police said that when they pulled up on the scene Kirby exited the vehicle and threw the marijuana cigarette on the ground. A search of the car then reportedly resulted in officers finding a stolen Glock 9mm handgun.
Kirby is charged with possession of marijuana possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, felony theft by receiving stolen property and abandonment of dangerous drugs.
