OROVILLE, Calif. — Two people have been arrested during an investigation into a burglary at a business in Palermo in April of this year.
According to the Butte County Sheriff's Office (BCSO), deputies began investigating the burglary in late April 2026 and received surveillance footage showing the suspect and suspect vehicle.
On Monday, May 4, the BCSO said deputies spotted the suspect vehicle near Lower Wyandotte Road and Ophir Road in Oroville and initiated a traffic stop. Inside the vehicle, deputies contacted the driver, Richard Cintas, 33, of Oroville, and his passenger, Mariah Inman, 31, of Chico.
While speaking with the pair, the BCSO said deputies located evidence that gave them cause to believe Cintas was the person who committed the burglary at the business in Palermo. They also reportedly spotted drug paraphernalia in plain view inside the vehicle, leading to a search.
After searching Cintas' vehicle, the BCSO said deputies found 5.8 grams of methamphetamine, 8 pounds of marijuana, additional drug paraphernalia, suspected burglary tools and multiple documents belonging to other people.
Cintas was ultimately arrested on several charges, including burglary, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of personal identifying information with intent to defraud and possession of marijuana over 28.5 grams. Similarly, inman was arrested for possession of meth and possession of drug paraphernalia.
