ALTON—A 21-year-old Aurora, CO, man was arrested about 8 p.m. Friday, May 8, near Alton on a charge of first-offense possession of a controlled substance — marijuana.
The arrest of Solomon Manasseh Mitchell stemmed from the stop of a 2005 Honda Accord clocked at 79 mph on the Highway 60 expressway near Kingbird Avenue about a mile northeast of Alton, according to the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office.
The odor of marijuana was detected coming from the vehicle, and a search found marijuana in a black bag that Mitchell admitted was his, according to the incident report.
