MONROE, Mich. (WTVG) – The Monroe County Sheriff’s Department is searching for two people accused of ramming a stolen SUV into a marijuana dispensary, then pouring gasoline inside and setting it on fire.
Monroe County Central Dispatch received reports at around 1:04 a.m. Saturday of a vehicle that crashed into the Pure Cannabis store at 15311 S. Dixie Highway. The caller reported to dispatch that a vehicle appeared to have rammed the front of the store on purpose. Shortly after the initial call, Central Dispatch received fire alarms from the location.
Security footage shows a maroon Jeep Cherokee, which was later determined to be reported as stolen out of Detroit, ramming the entrance to gain access to the inside. The suspects went inside, both wearing masks. One person carried a red gas can and spread gasoline on the counters before setting a fire. One man caught parts of his body on fire.
“They poured the gasoline on our reception area, and our online cash register area, one person ran to the back grabbed like I said just a couple of joints, and then some flower,” said Briana Pittman, floor manager at Pure Cannabis.
As the suspects left, the stolen car was still parked in the entrance. One suspect still had flames coming from his shoes.
Deputies arrived and located the maroon Jeep Cherokee partially inside the store and the fire suppression sprinklers extinguishing a fire. The dispensary estimates around $100 worth of product was stolen.
“The front door here is going to be the worst damage that they did most, like I said the fire didn’t burn too long,” Pittman said.
Witnesses reported seeing at least two unknown subjects flee from the store running southbound and eventually entering an unknown dark-colored vehicle that was waiting for them.
Monroe County Sheriff’s Canine arrived on scene to search the path of the suspects. During the search, deputies collected potential evidence dropped by the suspects. Additional evidence was collected from inside the venue.
“We don’t know who it is, who could’ve done it … definitely was a target cause like I said they didn’t really come in and it wasn’t like a smash and grab, so they didn’t grab too much,” Pittman said.
The dispensary reopened at 9 a.m., hours after the incident.
“Definitely could’ve been worse… there was a pile of lighters two steps away so it definitely could’ve been bad,” Pittman said.

According to Pure Cannabis, there is a $25,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the individuals responsible.
