SHELDON—Two Sheldon residents were arrested about 10 a.m. Monday, May 11, on charges of first-offense possession of a controlled substance — marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and failure to affix a drug stamp.
The arrest of 34-year-old Alisa Lucille Lewchuk and 29-year-old Thomas Antonio Cruz stemmed from officers being dispatched following a report of the odor of marijuana coming from the residence of 713 Seventh Ave. in Sheldon about 4:40 p.m. Wednesday, May 6, according to the Sheldon Police Department.
When officers checked the perimeter there was no odor, but when they went up to the door marked 713, there was a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside the residence.
A search warrant was obtained and a search the same day resulted in the seizure of multiple grams of marijuana and items of paraphernalia.
