A 22-year-old South Bend man was arrested Monday night after a traffic stop on U.S. 30 led to the discovery of marijuana and THC products in his vehicle.
According to a news release from the Marshall County Sheriff's Department, Deputy Ash conducted a traffic stop in the area of U.S. 30 and Hawthorn Road at approximately 9:53 p.m. on Monday, May 11th. The driver was identified as Anthony M. Binder, 22, of South Bend.
During the investigation, deputies conducted a probable cause search of the vehicle. Inside, they discovered suspected marijuana along with THC products. Officers also determined that Binder's Indiana driver's license was suspended due to an infraction.
Binder was arrested and transported to the Marshall County Jail, where he was booked and processed on a Class B misdemeanor charge of possession of marijuana. He was assigned a court date and issued a $255 bond.

Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is merely an allegation that a crime has been committed, and there is only probable cause to believe that a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings, entitled to be represented by counsel, and entitled to a trial jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
