EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) – Authorities say an Evansville man is under arrest and facing charges after a traffic stop Friday night.
Police say that around 8:45 p.m., an officer spotted a car along Diamond Avenue with expired registration on the plate.
The officer pulled the driver over at Diamond and Heidelbach and talked with 61-year-old Dane Hickman. He stated that he did not have his driver’s license on him. After running Hickman’s information, police found that he was a registered sex offender and is required to have his identification in his possession.
The officer also noticed the odor of burnt marijuana coming from Hickman. At first, he told the officer that he didn’t have any marijuana, but then later admitted to having a partially smoked joint in the center console of the car.
Hickman was taken into custody and transported to the Vanderburgh County Jail on charges of: Failure to Possess Identification as a Registered Sex Offender and Possession of Marijuana.
