ALTON—A 36-year-old Lincoln, NE, man was arrested about 10:40 a.m. Monday, June 8, near Alton on charges of first-offense operating while under the influence, first-offense possession of a controlled substance — marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
The arrest of Alexander Jeffery Kreifels stemmed from the stop of a 2019 Toyota 4Runner for speeding on the 4700 mile of the Highway 60 expressway, about two miles southwest of Alton, according to the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office.
The odor of marijuana was detected coming from the vehicle.
Kreifels had bloodshot/watery eyes, impaired balance and the odor of an alcoholic beverage and failed field sobriety tests.
Marijuana flower, a grinder,and pipes were found in Kreifels’ travel bag during a search of the vehicle, according to the incident report.
There was an open package of Fireball Cinnamon Whisky shooters with two missing that were still cold to the touch located in the center console.
THC gummies were located in the glove compartment of the vehicle.
