A Wildwood woman was arrested after being stopped in an unregistered vehicle with marijuana at Home Depot.
A deputy observed 33-year-old Markeisha Lashae Robbins driving a white 2008 Hyundai Azera at the intersection of Powell Road and County Road 466A in Wildwood around 5 p.m. Thursday, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. A check of the tag revealed it had been replaced by another.
So, the deputy stopped Robbins at Home Depot, located at 7368 Powell Road, Wildwood. She handed over her license and registration while the deputy further investigated the tag. He learned the tag was registered to a black 2018 Hyundai Sonata, the vehicle’s VIN did not match and the registration was cancelled as of Aug. 17, 2021, the report said.
When asked about the conflict of tags, Robbins grew evasive in her answers. She advised that she did not know anything about it. She was subsequently placed under arrest, the report said.
The deputy then took inventory of her vehicle and found 0.1 grams of marijuana on top of a dollar bill under the radio. Robbins refused to answer questions about it and later refused to sign a citation in favor of saying a variety of racial slurs, the report said.
Robbins was charged with fail to register motor vehicle, possession of marijuana (less than 20 grams), drug equipment (possess or use) and resist officer (refuse to accept/sign citation). She was transported to the Sumter County Detention Center and released after posting $3,000 bond.
