2nd Cannabis Dispensary Opens In Plainfield, Capping Village Ordinance – Patch
Thank you to our Local Business Sponsor:
PLAINFIELD, IL — A second recreational marijuana shop has opened its doors in Plainfield.
Aces Dispensary, located at 12627 S. Route 59, welcomed customers for the first time by hosting a soft opening on Jan. 10, with more than 240 people dropping by, the business said.
Plainfield fulfilled its ordinance that allowed a maximum of two dispensaries to operate within the village.
When trustees voted to legalize the sale of recreational marijuana in December 2023, the stipulation was that only two dispensaries could open, one north of Lockport Street and one south, Patch reported. The first — Terrabis, at 16020 S. Route 59 — opened in October 2024.
“Our Plainfield Village Board voted against dispensaries in 2019 and tax revenues from Plainfield residents continued to go to neighboring towns like Naperville and Joliet,” Mayor John Argoudelis wrote on Facebook. “I advocated putting the vote to you and in an advisory referendum a majority of voters told us you wanted some dispensaries in Plainfield. We listened.”
Aces advertises itself as a “destination dispensary built around experience, quality, and intention.” One room in the shop is dedicated to Alice in Wonderland, while another has a roulette table and lounge seating. Customers can also pour themselves a latte while they wait for their order.
The dispensary also toutes having the lowest prices in the state.
