Sky 5 captured footage of the scene Wednesday morning, where the Grady County Sheriff’s Office reported that 10 to 12 suspects attempted to rob the facility, prompting two vehicle pursuits.
“We had two vehicles we were chasing, and came into Chickasha, southbound on State Highway 81 from 1310 into Chickasha,” said Grady County Sheriff Gary Boggess.
One of the vehicles entered Interstate 44 in the wrong direction, traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes, and crashed in a construction zone near Country Club Road. The suspects in that car were apprehended.
Another vehicle was pursued by an OHP trooper near Highways 39 and 62.
“They did a TVI to try to get the vehicle to stop, and the vehicle crashed out—three occupants exited the vehicle,” Boggess said.
The sheriff indicated that the suspects are believed to be part of a gang from Dallas, Texas, targeting marijuana grows in Oklahoma, with previous incidents reported in Lincoln, Stephens, and Jefferson counties.
“It’s a gang-related group out of Dallas that has come to Oklahoma, and they’re robbing marijuana grows,” Boggess said.
Two other vehicles involved in the robbery managed to escape and are believed to have returned to Dallas.
“We’re pretty sure those vehicles went back to Dallas, which Dallas County and Dallas PD are aware of, so they’ll be on the lookout too,” Boggess said.
