The Asheville Police Department says two men have been arrested and charged with multiple drug-related offenses following an ongoing investigation.
On Wednesday, Oct. 28, at around 2 p.m. authorities with the Asheville Police Department were attempting to locate a wanted person. Jonathan Andrew Mejia, 21, of Asheville, near Bear Creek Lane in west Asheville.
ABDUCTED JUVENILE FROM TENNESSEE FOUND IN WEST ASHEVILLE HOME, ARREST MADE
Detectives observed Mejia driving away from a residence and he was taken into custody for outstanding arrest warrants for possession of a stolen firearm and discharging a firearm within the city limits. The charges against Mejia resulted from an investigation into gunfire on Maple Street in west Asheville on July 25, 2020.
Following the arrest of Mejia, the detectives returned to the residence where Mejia had originally been seen. Upon arrival at the residence, Giovanni Alexis Mejia, 21, of Asheville, attempted to flee from officers by jumping out of a second-story window with two large bags.

Giovanni was taken into custody without further incident and found to be in possession of 2.5 pounds of marijuana, 2.2 pounds of marijuana wax, 31 THC vape cartridges, 115 dosage units of Xanax and a 12-gauge shotgun.

He was booked at the Buncombe County under a $122,000 secured bond.

Giovanni Mejia was charged with possession with intent to sell marijuana, felony possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. He received a $10,000 secured bond but has since been released from custody.
