The St. John the Baptist Parish District Attorney’s Office has terminated an assistant district attorney who was arrested and is now facing drug charges.
Tony Tran was arrested at a home in Lakeview in the 6000 block of Fleur de Lis Drive on Jan. 20.
His arrest is in connection with what the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office is calling “a wide drug distribution network.”
A total of 400 pounds of marijuana, as well as smaller quantities of MDMA, ketamine, psilocybin, and meth, were found inside the home.
A total of $135,00o in cash, three gold bars, and three luxury cars, including a Porsche, were seized.
According to the New Orleans Police Department, Tran was transported to the Orleans Justice Center and is facing multiple drug charges as well as a weapons charge.
Three others were also arrested in connection with the investigation.
Those arrested were Bill Vo, 41, Five Vo, 38, and Jonathan Nguyen, 37.
Tran, Bill Vo, and Five Vo are from New Orleans. Nguyen is from Metairie, according to JPSO.
JPSO said Nguyen was believed to be a drug distributor while the others assisted in the operation.
Nguyen is being held at the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center on a $120,000 bond. Bill Vo and Five Vo are being held without bond.
Tran was hired in November 2025 by the St. John the Baptist District Attorney’s Office.
According to a statement from the district attorney’s office, they do not expect any cases to be affected by the holiday season or by Tran being a new hire.
Tran has a work history in New Orleans.
The Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office is the lead agency investigating the case.
