Marijuana blunt on window leads to 4 year prison sentence for Amarillo woman – KFDA | NewsChannel 10
AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) – An Amarillo woman appeared in court yesterday to plead guilty to four felony offenses.
In April 2025, a Department of Public Safety trooper pulled over a gold Honda Accord near SW 5th Ave. and McMasters for expired registration.
As he spoke to the driver of the car, the trooper “saw a marijuana blunt sitting on the outside ledge” of the driver’s side window.
According to the trooper’s report, he then asked the driver and passenger to exit the Honda. The passenger was later identified as 33-year-old Atev Lanaee Vanzandt.
In talking with Vanzandt, she admitted to having cocaine and a pistol in the car.
The trooper arrested Vanzandt on a state jail felony drug possession charge and booked her into Potter County Detention Center.
A grand jury indicted Vanzandt in September.
She appeared in 108th District Court yesterday where District Judge Tim Pirtle sentenced her to six months state jail.
Vanzandt was also sentenced for a 2023 robbery of a Dollar General, an additional state jail drug possession charge, along with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
She received a total of 4 years in prison.
