A former Friendly’s restaurant in Manheim Township is being renovated for a medical marijuana dispensary.
The 3,400-square-foot building at 1521 Oregon Pike will become a dispensary for Terra Pharm, a new company that’s planning to open several dispensaries across the state.
Janice Spurlock, a spokesperson for Terra Pharm, said she expects the Manheim Township facility to open sometime in April.
In Pennsylvania, medical marijuana dispensaries can sell cannabis products to people with qualifying physical or mental health conditions who have been issued a medical marijuana card.
The Terra Pharm medical marijuana dispensary on Oregon Pike will be the eighth such dispensary in Lancaster County. Most of the others are clustered in Lancaster city and surrounding municipalities.
Some of the owners of Terra Pharm are also owners of Organic Remedies, a company that operates six medical marijuana dispensaries in Pennsylvania, including one in York. One of the joint owners of the companies is Erik Hauser, a former pharmacist who is the current president of Organic Remedies and will become the CEO of Terra Pharm when it begins operations.
On Oregon Pike, Terra Pharm is replacing a Friendly’s that closed in October 2024 and then was purchased the next month for $995,000 by Deerin Companies, a Manheim Township-based developer. The property was resold this month for $1.65 million to Focused Investors LLC, a Florida-based company.
