We’re already halfway through the 2026 legislative session, which means a host of bills did not survive the chopping block.
With two weeks dedicated to redistricting in December, lawmakers promised not to expend more taxpayer dollars by making the session longer, so they’ve shortened their regular course of business instead. As a result, they had just one month to consider more than 700 filed bills before the deadline for them to pass one chamber. Those deadlines were on Jan. 29 for Senate bills and Feb. 2 for House bills.
