A new marijuana dispensary on Caroline Road in Washington has sparked the ire of neighbors, who are calling for stricter zoning restrictions around dispensaries.
The city issued Kansas City-area company Elevate Cannabis a business license to occupy the former Ghosh Arthritis, Rheumatology & Pain Clinic site that closed in 2022. That lot, prominently visible from the intersection of Highways 100 and 47, was subdivided in March 2025 to make space for two different businesses. At the time, former City Planner Sarah Skeen mentioned that the application “came in as a dispensary use” but declined to share more details, according to previous Missourian reporting.
