The Colorado Department of Revenue has released the latest figures on marijuana sales and tax revenue, confirming the industry generated $236,449,405 in 2025.
With 2025’s tax and fee revenue, the state has now collected over $3.1 billion in cumulative tax revenue collected since January 2014, a press release states.
The monthly marijuana sales and tax revenue report figures show that tax revenue for December 2025 was $18,486,924. November marijuana sales figures were $103,277,359. According to the release, $18,109,803,057 in sales has been generated since January 2014.
The Marijuana Sales Reports summarize total sales made by both medical and retail marijuana stores monthly by county. The 2025 data reports are published monthly on the third Thursday and on a three month lag. For January 2025 to date, Pitkin County so far saw $7,903,998 total retail marijuana sales over 11 months.
The Marijuana Tax Reports show state tax and fee revenue collected monthly as posted in the Colorado state accounting system, according to the release. Tax revenue comes from the state sales tax on marijuana sold in stores, the state retail marijuana sales tax, and the state retail marijuana excise tax on wholesale sales/transfers of retail marijuana.
Marijuana license and application fees generate the fee revenue.
