Rapid City Planning Commission approves two cannabis dispensary proposals – KOTA Territory News

RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA) – The Planning Commission approved two medical cannabis dispensary proposals Thursday from Genesis Farms LLC.
The commission approved a possible new dispensary location at 2209 Mount Rushmore Road and an operator change at an existing location on East North Street.
An anonymous source said, “Staff is recommending approval with the stipulations noted in the report, namely that we’re not creating a saturation of use in this area and that there is precedent for approving this use within the residential zoning buffer.”
City staff said the approvals would not create oversaturation in the area and noted precedent for approving cannabis businesses within residential zoning buffers.
