Police at Athens International Airport have arrested a traveller for alleged membership of an international drugs smuggling ring after finding 21 kilos of marijuana in his luggage, authorities said Monday.
It was the third arrest of the sort at the Greek capital’s airport in the past fortnight, involving the largest quantity of marijuana so far. A police statement only identified the suspect as a 39-year-old foreign national. He was arrested Sunday after arriving on an international flight.
Police said he is believed to have worked for a ring that specialized in flying drugs into Greece on regular commercial flights.
