NEW ORLEANS — Louisiana State Police arrested three people after a chase in New Orleans East that ended with troopers finding guns and marijuana inside the stolen car.
Troopers were patrolling near Chef Menteur Highway and Michoud Boulevard on Thursday when they spotted a Nissan Altima driving recklessly. When troopers tried to pull the car over, the driver refused to stop and tried to get away, according to State Police.
Troop NOLA said the chase ended on W. Cavelier Drive when the Nissan became disabled.
One passenger was arrested in the car, while another ran off on foot and was caught a short time later. The driver also ran and went into a nearby home. Troopers set up a perimeter around the area, and the driver came out and was arrested.
Troopers got a search warrant for the Nissan and recovered three guns and about 168 grams of suspected marijuana inside. The car had been reported stolen out of New Orleans. One of the people arrested after the chase was identified as a convicted felon who can’t legally possess firearms.
LSP has not released the identities of the people arrested in the incident, but says all three were booked into the Orleans Justice Center on various narcotics, firearm, and felony charges.
