A Chatham County man is facing several charges after deputies say they seized several marijuana-infused edibles packaged to resemble well-known snack brands.
David Moreno Rodriguez, 23, was arrested after a traffic stop on Tuesday. Deputies said during a probable cause search of his car, they found a large amount of marijuana, marijuana-infused edibles and a concealed gun.

Deputies said a subsequent search warrant was executed at Rodriguez’s home. There, they found additional marijuana and a large amount of marijuana-infused edible products.
Investigators say many of the edible products were packaged closely to mimic popular snack foods, including items designed to resemble children’s cereal, chips and candy. Deputies say this can make it hard to distinguish between these illegal products from legitimate items found on store shelves.
“These products are clearly designed to catch the eye,” said Sheriff Mike Roberson. “When you see packaging that looks like something a child might grab off a shelf or an adult might not think twice about, it raises serious concerns.”
Rodriguez now faces several charges, including:
Rodriguez is being held on a $20,000 bond and is expected to appear in court on Monday, May 11.
Deputies encourage parents to be aware of these types of products and speak with their children about the dangers of consuming unknown substances.
