The marijuana holiday 4/20 is on Monday. It falls about 10 weeks before the deadline to submit enough signatures so voters can decide in November whether to outlaw dispensaries.
If organizers calling themselves American Encore can gather about 260,000 signatures by July 3 — and if voters approve a subsequent ballot measure called Sensible Marijuana Policy for Arizona — then state law permitting dispensaries would be repealed in 2028.
The unofficial holiday, April 20, is used by dispensaries as a promotion and marketing tool.
Officials with the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety plan to hold a news conference at the Capitol on Monday morning to warn against impaired driving.
