Alabama’s medical cannabis program reached another operational milestone this week as state regulators issued three new medical cannabis dispensary licenses and approved five physicians to certify patients for participation in the program.
The announcements mark continued progress in the implementation of the Darren Wesley “Ato” Hall Compassion Act, which legalized medical cannabis in Alabama and placed oversight authority with the Alabama Medical Cannabis Commission (AMCC).

A proposed bill in the Alabama Legislature, if passed in its current form, would allow the Montgomery City Council to impose an occupational license tax or fee. The city can impose this tax upon any individual who engages in or follows any trade, occupation, or profession in the municipality. The stated goal is to use the money for healthcare, public safety and transportation infrastructure. Do you support this bill?
