Fifth licensed D.C. medical dispensary shutdown for alleged illicit cannabis sales
District regulators and police shut down six businesses for illegal cannabis sales between Dec. 17 and Dec. 26, 2025, including several liquor stores and a licensed medical cannabis dispensary, according to ABCA. WVC Wellness became the fifth licensed medical dispensary to be shut down in the past year, as enforcement actions under the District’s expanded 2024 cannabis law continue. Three liquor stores also had their alcohol licenses suspended pending hearings, and officials reported multiple seizures and arrests as part of the city’s ongoing crackdown on unlicensed and unlawful cannabis sales.
Maryland union files federal labor charges against TerrAscend over alleged union interference
UFCW Local 27 filed unfair labor practice charges with the National Labor Relations Board against TerrAscend USA Services LLC, alleging unlawful union interference at the company’s Salisbury, Maryland location. The charges, filed on Dec. 31, claim the company engaged in conduct prohibited under the National Labor Relations Act, including actions affecting union communication and employee participation. The allegations have not yet been adjudicated by the NLRB.
Luxury car dealership served as hub for Virginia drug trafficking ring, Newport News man sentenced to 40 years
Federal prosecutors say a Newport News luxury car dealership was used as a base of operations for a multi-year cannabis drug trafficking conspiracy spanning the Mid-Atlantic. The organization’s leader, Cortez Dayshawn Bumphus, was sentenced to 40 years in prison following his conviction on drug, firearm, and money laundering charges.
