A driver was arrested with marijuana after a crash at Trailwinds Village in Wildwood.
Jaidon Pekala, 23, of Deland, was in the driver’s seat at about 6 p.m. Monday near ABC Fine Wine & Spirits when police found the vehicle up on the sidewalk with a broken right rear wheel, according to information from the Wildwood Police Department.
An officer approached the vehicle and detected the odor of burnt marijuana. The officer also spotted a plastic package on top of a clothes basket. The package was found to contain marijuana. There were also marijuana cigarettes found in the vehicle. Pekala admitted he had “smoked marijuana earlier inside the vehicle.” There was a passenger in the vehicle, but Pekala told police that the marijuana belonged to him. The marijuana had a weight of about 25 grams.
He was arrested on a felony charge of possession of marijuana. He was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center and released after posting $2,500 bond.
