LANSING — A group representing the cannabis industry says it is appealing a state judge’s refusal to strike down as unconstitutional a new wholesale tax on marijuana that the state imposed to help fund road repairs.
“We stand by our belief that the Court of Claims did not make the right call when it issued an opinion that declined to block the Michigan Legislature’s unconstitutional 24% wholesale tax on cannabis from going into effect on New Year’s Day,” Rose Tantraphol, a spokesperson for the Michigan Cannabis Industry Association, said in a Dec. 23 news release.
