ROCK VALLEY—A 60-year-old Hull woman was arrested about 4:15 p.m. Monday, Jan. 19, in Rock Valley on charges of first-offense operating while under the influence and first-offense possession of a controlled substance — marijuana.
The arrest of Jodi Lynn Van Leeuwen stemmed from the stop of a 1999 Dodge Dakota pickup for brake lamp and broken windshield violations on 16th Avenue near Valley View Drive in Rock Valley, according to the Rock Valley Police Department.
She had bloodshot/watery eyes, impaired balance, slurred speech, bruxism and leg tremors and failed field sobriety tests.
Van Leeuwen exhibited signs consistent with a central nervous system depressant, a central nervous system stimulant and cannabis impairment during drug recognition expert’s evaluation, according to the incident report.
A urine sample screened positive for methamphetamine, amphetamines and THC at Hegg Health Center in Rock Valley.
K-9 Gus performed an open-air sniff of Van Leeuwen’s vehicle.
A THC vaping device was in plain view in the vehicle.
