Jersey City dispensary, co-owned by Ice-T, closes after eight months – Bergen Record

The Medicine Woman dispensary in Jersey City, co-owned by rapper and actor Ice-T, has closed after less than a year in business.
An employee of The Medicine Woman confirmed the closing of the Jersey City location but did not say when it closed or give a reason.
The marijuana dispensary on Tonnelle Avenue officially opened on April 19, 2025. Ice-T, whose real name is Tracy Lauren Marrow, was at the grand opening with co-owner and founder Charis Burrett.
The flagship location for The Medicine Woman in Bellflower, California, is still open, the company’s website says. The California store has been in operation since 2019.
Jersey City public officials could not be reached for an immediate comment on the dispensary’s closing.
Burrett, who has said she was also involved with the cannabis reform organization Last Prisoner Project, had high hopes for the Jersey City location when it opened.
The marijuana industry has blossomed in New Jersey since Gov. Phil Murphy signed bills to legalize the substance on Feb. 22, 2021. North Jersey dispensary locations include Hashery in Hackensack, Ascend in Rochelle Park and Fort Lee and Sweetspot Dispensary in River Edge.
Amid the growing number of businesses, the marijuana industry is also highly competitive. Hashstoria in Newark, co-owned by rapper Raekwon from Wu-Tang Clan, has closed, several reports said.
