BEAVER DAM, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – Kentucky’s first licensed medical marijuana dispensary has temporarily closed its doors less than two weeks after opening, after selling out of its entire supply.
According to information posted on the business’s website, The Post dispensary in Beaver Dam is currently sold out of product and plans to reopen sometime in January. No specific reopening date has been announced.
As ABC36 NEWS NOW has reported, medical cannabis became legal in Kentucky earlier this year. The Post opened on Dec. 13, becoming the first dispensary in the state to operate under the new law.
According to The Marijuana Herald, the dispensary sold its entire inventory within its first week of operation. The publication reports that hundreds of patients traveled from across Kentucky to visit the Beaver Dam location, with long lines forming outside the store during its opening days.
State officials have previously said demand for medical cannabis was expected to be high as the program rolled out, particularly in the early weeks of availability.
