Marijuana found in candy bags at elementary school Christmas party; parent arrested: police – FOX19 | Cincinnati

BREWTON, Ala. (WALA/Gray News) – An Alabama woman is accused of putting marijuana inside candy bags for a kindergarten Christmas party.
The Brewton Police Department said a parent, identified as 26-year-old Karima Frasier, brought numerous bags of candy to a classroom at Brewton Elementary School for a Christmas party on Dec. 18.
But inside was more than just sweet treats.
According to court documents, numerous clear bags containing a “variety of candy” with marijuana were found to be given to kids during the holiday event.
Investigators said following the class party, a parent called school officials after seeing what appeared to be marijuana inside their child’s candy bag.
Brewton police were notified, and they gathered four bags for evidence.
Brewton Police Chief Matt Jordan said that Frasier was arrested the next day and charged with distribution of a controlled substance to a minor and chemical endangerment of a child.
Brewton City Schools Superintendent Kevin Wiessman said he is thankful the students involved are safe and for the quick police response.
Frasier was booked on a $300,000 bond.
