BREWTON, Ala. — A class Christmas party ended with drugs in the hands of kindergarten students.
This happened Thursday in Brewton after a mother gave out goody bags filled with candy and, police say, marijuana crumbs.
Karima Frasier, 26, is the mother who police say gave the goody bags to the students. She has been charged with distribution and sale of a controlled substance to a minor and chemical endangerment of a minor.

Parent Christy Quinn is not happy with the response, or lack of, from the school district. She's the mother of a first grade student at Brewton Elementary, a small town where sharing with friends, even in other grades, is encouraged.
"She's constantly giving something to another student or bringing something home from another student," Quinn said. "So, yeah. She's big on the sharing."
But when social media posts revealed kindergartners were exposed to marijuana, Quinn was in shock.
"I had a little panic attack, you know, because you're not expecting to wake up and see that, you know," Quinn said.
The Christmas party happened last Thursday. But it wasn't until later that evening that a parent found particles of marijuana inside the goody bag filled with wrapped candy that was sent home. Quinn says she's disappointed in the school district.
"I was just a little irritated that the school didn't notify us, you know, because they're really good about notifying about everything," said Quinn. "And I'm just assuming that they just didn't want to alarm, you know, a whole bunch of people, you know, getting an uproar about it. But it would have been nice to have been notified."
Executive Director of the Drug Education Council Virginia Guy says because children are still developing, marijuana would have a stronger effect on them. And the added layer of concern is not knowing where the drugs came from.
"If this was street marijuana, then it very likely could contain other things besides marijuana," Guy said. "The marijuana would be harmful enough for a young child but we know that probably more than 50-60% of the drugs on our streets today contain things, like fentanyl, carfentanil, xylazine. So most drugs on the streets contain so much more than the drug that is supposedly in."
The Brewton Police Department says there have been no reports of children being harmed. But the case remains under investigation.
WEAR News reached out to the superintendent of Brewton City Schools. He says the district will not be making a statement, but is glad police were there and things were quickly resolved.
