Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost has rejected the summary language for a proposed referendum aimed at overturning recent changes to Ohio’s marijuana law, saying it could mislead voters.
Gov. Mike DeWine signed Senate Bill 56 into law last month, which restricts sales of intoxicating hemp products to state-approved dispensaries and adds new restrictions to the state’s recreational marijuana law.
The law takes effect on March 20.
Advocates argue the changes go against the will of Ohioans who voted to legalize recreational marijuana in 2023.
