Police investigators in Georgetown have arrested a 45-year-old man following the discovery of 35.6 pounds of marijuana during an operation in the city. The Police said the bust took place on Thursday during an intelligence led operation in Lombard Street.
According to the Police, during a search of the 45-year-old suspect, the investigators found a transparent zip-lock plastic bag containing leaves, seeds, and stems suspected to be cannabis.
The statement explained that further inquiries led ranks to a black Toyota Allion motor vehicle, which was searched in the man’s presence.
The Police said during a search of the trunk, three large black plastic bags were found containing fourteen (14) bulky parcels wrapped in plastic. The parcels were opened in the suspect’s presence and were found to contain leaves, seeds, and stems suspected to be cannabis.
The suspect was arrested and escorted to the Ruimveldt Police Station, where the suspected cannabis was weighed in his presence and amounted to 35.6 pounds before being lodged.
The motor vehicle was also lodged, and the suspect remains in police custody pending charges.
