Polling from Gallup indicates a shift in public opinion, with more Americans supporting a less restrictive approach to marijuana.
PASCO, Wash. – President Trump signed an executive order today aimed at fast-tracking the reclassification of cannabis. This significant action could pave the way for the Food and Drug Administration to study its medicinal uses.
The order does not legalize cannabis nationwide but would classify it similarly to drugs like Tylenol with codeine, ketamine and testosterone.
Currently, cannabis is classified as a Schedule 1 drug, in the same category as heroin, ecstasy and LSD under the Controlled Substances Act of 1970.
