ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — Skyland Cannabis Company, a locally owned cannabis shop located right in the heart of downtown Asheville, prides itself on the quality of their product — especially when it comes to their selection of edibles.
While some shops may take a cannabis-first, candy-second approach, Skyland Cannabis founder Nicholas Strauss says they like to make sure their product makes customers feel like they’re in an adult candy shop.
Strauss says about 75% of their edibles are locally made, sourcing from manufacturers within about a half-hour range. This, he adds, helps their stock of edibles stay fresher. It’s part of a mutually beneficial relationship he’s trying to continue building with local businesses.

“I can get them faster when we need them,” Strauss says. “And if they’re — sometimes they’re more perishable, and if that happens we can manage supply better having it local. We also develop better — this is the real kicker — we develop better relationships with the people who make the edibles and they start using our recipes and they start using organic ingredients. So, in a few cases, we’ve actually upgraded what they were doing to our spec, which makes our stuff literally special because it’s the same gummy that they were making before but now it tastes better and it’s organic.”
Skyland also makes it known that they only sell what’s natural — Delta 9 THC (within legal state limits) and THCa. They don’t sell Delta 8, HHC or several other products that can be made from the synthetic process — another way of making sure the quality of their product lives up to their high standards.
“Not only is it nonsynthetic, but here’s the other half of the product itself, is quality,” Strauss describes the edibles they choose to sell. “We do stand by that we put 100% satisfaction guarantee on all the edibles, flower, whatever.”
