The Suraram police have booked eight persons and seized MDMA and marijuana during an operation carried out on Friday (December 26), with one alleged supplier based out of Bengaluru absconding.
According to a police official, a case was registered in connection with the seizure of 45 grams of brown MDMA, six grams of white MDMA and 13 grams of marijuana. The total value of the seized contraband and other property was estimated at about ₹12.20 lakh.
The arrested peddlers were named as Akram Ranjeeth Kumar, 30, of Old Bowenpally, Kukatla Nitesh Kumar Yadav alias Nash alias Nanu, 25, of Bowenpally, and Vuppari Naveen Kumar alias Tillu, 31, of Suraram.
The accused were intercepted at Gayatri Residency in Suraram following information about the movement and distribution of narcotic substances.
Police identified the absconding peddler as Ashwin, a resident of Bengaluru, who allegedly supplied MDMA and marijuana to the Hyderabad-based network.
The consumers apprehended at the spot were identified as 28-year-old Md. Shauruddin alias Shahrukh of Suraram, 27-year-old Nagireddy Venkata Shashidar Reddy of Nellore, 21-year-old Kunchala Shivabrahma of KPHB, 27-year-old Karimeraka Sai Kumar of Pet Basheerabad, and 21-year-old Medarimetla Laxmi Nandini of KPHB.
Police seized two cars used for transportation, eight mobile phones and a digital weighing machine along with the narcotics.
Further investigation is underway to trace the absconding supplier and to identify additional links in the supply chain, police said.
