Ortonville — During the regular council meeting on Monday night, the village council received an application for a marijuana dispensary at 258 S. Ortonville Road, which used to be the Ortonville Montessori Center.
“The folks at planning commission have taken a look at it,” said Village Manager Matt Ryan. “I’m getting their thoughts as to a more detailed building plan, but I thought this is the time to distribute to you. We’re not going to be considering it tonight, but just to get it on your radar.”
Under the current village ordinance, one marijuana establishment is allowed to operate within the village limits, with various restrictions on location. There is currently no valid license issued to anyone for a marijuana establishment.
“There were never any actual licenses issued,” said Ryan. “There were conditional, provisional licenses is- sued, but the provisions and conditions were never met. So we never actually issued a marijuana dispensary license.”

The application is currently with the planning commission to go over a more detailed building plan for approval, and will then be presented to council at a future meeting.
