Woman busted boarding flight to London at MIA with 65 pounds of marijuana: MDSO – NBC 6 South Florida
At a bond court hearing, a judge laughed as she read the details of the case. “It looks like you’re charged with illegal trafficking in 65 pounds of marijuana. Well, that would be heavy,” she said.
A woman about to board a flight to London from Miami International Airport was arrested Monday after authorities found more than 65 pounds of marijuana in her suitcases, according to an arrest report.
Begum Mulazimoglu, 22, was supposed to be a passenger on a Virgin Atlantic flight to London International Airport, authorities said.

But while selecting suitcases for outbound inspection, a Customs and Border Patrol officer detected “a strong odor of marijuana coming from (2) hard-sided suitcases, one brown and one black color.”
Baggage tags on both identified the luggage as belonging to Mulazimoglu, the arrest report states.
The brown suitcase, authorities said, was “filled with black nylon vacuum sealed packages that were emitting a strong odor of marijuana.”
Officers found a total of 60 bundles of marijuana inside the bags, and an x-ray revealed two Apple trackers, “one for each luggage concealed inside a bundle.” Officers also said a green, leafy substance tested positive for marijuana.
In total, Mulasimoglu was allegedly caught with 65.43 pounds of marijuana. Authorities said she was also carrying $330 and 530 pounds stirling, or about $713.
She was taken into custody and transported to Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, where she was booked on a charge of drug trafficking marijuana valued at more than $30,000.
At a bond court hearing on Tuesday, a judge laughed as she read the details of the case.
“It looks like you’re charged with illegal trafficking in 65 pounds of marijuana. Well, that would be heavy,” she said.
“Let’s see. It’s claimed that you’re departing Miami to London,” the judge laughed, “with 65 pounds of marijuana in the luggage.”
At first, Mulasimoglu’s private attorney said he was unsure of the details of the case, but stated that his client “has no priors. She’s a young lady.”
“Did you have a chance to read the arrest affidavit?” the judge interrupted. “I can read it all to you if you want.”
After she read the details, Mulasimoglu’s attorney replied: “Thank you for that. I do not have a probable cause argument.”
The state requested a bond of $15,000, but Mulasimoglu’s attorney requested a lower bond.
Her bond was set at $10,000.
