JASPER COUNTY, Miss. (WDAM) – Four men are facing charges after firearms and illegal drugs were found during a safety checkpoint in Jasper County, according to the sheriff.
Sheriff Randy Johnson told WDAM 7 that the suspects – 19-year-old Javion McCollum, 22-year-old Damien Durrell McNair, 25-year-old Damian Jerrell Reese and 53-year-old Johnny Marcus Nickelson – were caught at the checkpoint on State Route 528 near Interstate 59 in Heidelberg around midnight Monday.
Johnson said around 98 grams of marijuana were found, along with various firearms.
According to the online jail roster, McCollum, McNair and Reese are each being charged with one count of enhancement of penalty for drug charge while in possession of a firearm.
Nickelson is being charged with one count of possession of marijuana (1-30 grams) while operating a motor vehicle.
All four suspects are expected to make their initial court appearances Tuesday, according to Johnson.
