Nebraskans for Medical Marijuana is holding statewide town halls this week to explain the current state of Nebraska’s medical cannabis program, including Tuesday’s meeting in Blair.
Crista Eggers, with the group, said 18 months after the ballot passage, no doctors are recommending medical marijuana, no patients are enrolled and no program is running.
In November 2024, Nebraskans voted overwhelmingly to pass medical marijuana and the Nebraska Medical Marijuana Commission was formed.
NMM will hold another town hall Wednesday night in Falls City. The organization held its first round of town halls in February, with stops in Scottsbluff, North Platte, Grand Island, Aurora and Lincoln.
A Washington County junkyard owner is facing 61 misdemeanor charges after failing to clean up his property.
Last year, Michael Pick paid a $100 fine for violating Washington County zoning regulations. At the time, he told the court he would bring the property into compliance.
The county attorney has since filed 61 misdemeanor charges against Pick for failure to clean the property. The attorney said they may consider even more charges.
On Tuesday, Pick entered a “not guilty” plea. He is set to return to court later this month.

Records show 71-year-old Daniel Lynn was booked into Douglas County Corrections on Tuesday morning to face 12 felony counts of securities fraud.
The filing reveals the Nebraska Department of Banking and Finance received complaints in 2023 of alleged fraud tied to Lynn’s sale of securities.
Records go in depth on the millions of dollars investors from Omaha and elsewhere gave to Lynn. Some investors were refunded, sometimes only partially, and some funds were transferred to Lynn’s personal bank account.
Years after construction on a downtown Omaha building wrapped up, there is still no sign of when the community will start benefiting from it.
In 2018, a new Douglas County youth center was proposed for downtown. It was completed in 2024 and two years later, the $27 million facility at 17th and Harney remains empty.
Douglas County Commissioner Roger Garcia said this is due to the number of young people being detained. He said that number is larger than the capacity of the newer facility.
The building will continue to stay vacant until juvenile detention numbers can average in the 50s or lower for at least six months. It is costing Douglas County taxpayers about $20,000 a month to maintain.
The Huskers will join three other top volleyball programs in Texas this August for an exhibition being billed as the “Super Bowl of Volleyball.”

“Spikes Under the Lights” is expected to be the first women’s college sporting event held at AT&T Stadium and one of the first women’s sporting events of any kind at an NFL venue.
Eight veterans with no known family contacts were laid to rest Tuesday in Omaha, but they weren’t alone.
Hundreds of strangers showed up to Omaha National Cemetery to make sure their service was honored. The eight men served their country — some served in the Vietnam War, others during the Cold War.
Each man was given full military honors. For the Patriot Guard Riders and volunteers, this mission is deeply personal, a way to stand in for the families who couldn’t be there, making sure no veteran is ever forgotten.
See a full list of the veterans being honored here.
