MURRAY, Ky. — A Murray drug trafficking investigation led to the arrest of two individuals at a residence located across the street from Westside Baptist’s Kingdom Kids School.
According to a news release from the Calloway County Sheriff’s Office, deputies conducted a search of 33-year-old Ronald T. Lewis’ residence and discovered a large quantity of marijuana inside, along with hundreds of THC disposable vape devices, digital scales, packaging and shipping materials, and drug paraphernalia consistent with distribution.
“In total, approximately 16,873 grams (37 pounds) of marijuana, 14 one-ounce containers of THC wax and several hundred vape cartridges were seized.”
“In addition to the narcotics, detectives recovered two loaded firearms, identified as an AK-47 style pistol and a 9mm pistol, as well as additional items indicative of drug trafficking,” the release read.
Lewis was arrested and lodged at the Calloway County Detention Facility. He faces the following charges:
Hyte was cited for Possession of Marijuana and released.
CCSO was assisted in its investigation by the Calloway County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division, Marshall County Sheriff’s Office and the McCracken County Sheriff’s Office.
CCSO says that marijuana purchased through proper legal channels for medicinal purposes is not a crime. However, illicit drug possession and trafficking remain criminal and pose a risk to community safety.
Defendants in criminal cases are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
