Connecticut State Police arrested Ryan Kelsey Aubert, of Chaplin, on Wednesday after he was accused of sexually abusing a then-15-year-old girl.
CHAPLIN — A 45-year-old Chaplin man charged with sexually abusing a 15-year-old girl offered the victim marijuana, cocaine and other drugs in exchange for sex, according to an arrest warrant.
Ryan Kelsey Aubert was arrested Wednesday after the victim told investigators the abuse began in February 2025 and continued for about a month, Connecticut State Police wrote in the warrant.

Detectives from the Eastern District Major Crime Squad began investigating Aubert that March when police learned that a 4-year-old girl was hospitalized after ingesting cannabis gummies, the warrant shows.
Police discovered that the products belonged to the child’s 15-year-old sister after her mother told investigators she suspected Aubert had been grooming her daughter by buying her gifts, including perfume, makeup and marijuana.
As part of the investigation, officers seized numerous items from the family’s home, including a wax-like substance that tested positive for THC and a vial of crushed pills that contained fentanyl and cocaine, police wrote.
A search of the teenager’s cellphone also revealed that Aubert exchanged a series of text messages with the minor about meeting up and consuming drugs, several of which were later deleted, the warrant states.

In an interview with investigators, the 15-year-old said she met Aubert in late 2024. She said he initially gave her compliments on her clothing and makeup before offering gifts, including a cellphone, marijuana, pipes and other drugs.
“The victim explained she believed Aubert’s actions amounted to him grooming her,” police wrote in the warrant.
The victim said that Aubert offered her a wide variety of drugs in exchange for sex, including marijuana, prescription opioids, cocaine and psychedelic mushrooms.
The teenager also she was afraid to refuse Aubert's advances because he stored several guns in a safe inside his home. She noted that she always hung out with him alone and while under the influence of drugs.

Additionally, the victim alleged that Aubert restrained her during sex when she attempted to leave and use the bathroom. She claimed he forcefully held her down on his bed for about two minutes before loosening his grip, police wrote.
The warrant shows Aubert declined to speak with investigators and instead referred police to his attorney.
Aubert was charged with first-degree sexual assault, two counts of second-degree sexual assault, one count each of enticing a minor, second-degree unlawful restraint, sale of a narcotic substance, risk of injury to a child, illegal sexual contact with a victim under the age of 16 and harmful communication with a minor, according to police.

His bond was set at $500,000 and he was scheduled to appear in state Superior Court in Danielson Thursday, police said.
